After a short illness a much beloved man left us. He passed away late one night and while the adults in the family grieved ourselves to sleep, two young men (my sons) stayed up all night turning their grief into writing a tribute to their Papaw.
The World's Greatest Man
1923-1999
The world has lost the greatest
man
This is coming from his biggest fan
He definitely is a hero to me
He always was and forever will be
He fought his battles until the end
He had advice he would always lend
As we pay respects to a great friend
We cherish these memories again and again
He spread warmth and knowledge to all that he met
A life filled with happiness and not one regret
A man so special you wouldn't believe
That's why it's so hard to see him leave
A sense of humor like that of a kid
These memories are priceless and not
up for bid
Sooner or later we all have to part
I can't forget your cleverness with a point like a dart
To go along with your creative art
That's why I'll always keep you deep down in my heart.
A tribute
